On 11th of April 2011 His Excellency the Ambassador of Federal Republic of Germany Mr. Matthias Höpfner visited the biggest Bulgarian wind park “Sveti Nikola” located near the town of Kavarna; the visit was organized on invitation from “Geo Power”OOD, Bulgarian-German company, which is the local partner of the company AES in the project “Sveti Nikola”.
The parallel realization of the Exhibition and Congress contributes to the events high quality and the excellent attendance by specialists from Bulgaria and Europe.
On 15 March 2010, the 156 MW “St. Nikola” Wind Park was put into operation. A use permit was obtained for 52 wind generators of 3 MW capacity, as well as for the attached infrastructure and cable network, and they were officially put into operation.
Following the tradition of the sailors, Bulgaria's PM Boyko Borissov crashed a bottle of champagne and gave the name St. Nikola to the biggest wind energy park in Bulgaria, which is situated near the seaside resort of Kavarna.
In December 2008 InterConnection had the pleasure to organize the signing of the financial agreements for a major project in the renewable sector in Bulgaria.
The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES) today announced that AES Geo Energy, a majority
owned subsidiary, signed an agreement to build the largest wind farm in
Bulgaria.
The EBRD and IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, are supporting the development of sustainable energy sources in Bulgaria, providing €198 million in loans to construct a 156-megawatt wind farm that will help the country promote clean energy and reduce its dependency on fossil fuels.
AES Geo Energy received a “First Class” Investment Certificate. The project for the construction of a wind energy farm is a joint initiative of AES Bulgaria and Geo Power. Yesterday at a special ceremony the Deputy Minister of Economy and Energy Valentin Ivanov handed the certificate to Peter Lithgow, Country Manager of AES in Bulgaria and to Eng. Dimitar Hristov, CEO of Geo Power.
